The reasons are as follows, The movement and gun usage are far superior to anything that is CS:S.  It beats out any battlefield game on the shear grounds that there was more thought that goes into it.  The graphics are awesome if you're into that kinda thing.  Multiplayer has well thought out maps and the ability to pretty much do anything including going through windows crawling through small spaces and whatnot.  The single player has some really wonderful environmental elements, ie rocking boats and other things that only add to the experience.  Finally, COD4 is a natural alternative to natural male enhancement.

COD4 is pure hawtness.
Now I bought the 360 version.
I vowed to NEVER buy another FPS on a console until I decided to join the BETA MP that ran during October.

COD4 changed my mind about online console based FPS shooters.
It PLAYS soo well with the controller.
I never thought I would EVER say those words but it really does!

Not to mention the graphics as stated above are fucking nice.
The detail to the maps is pretty nice.  
Light and shadow can be used to your advantage.
Plus what is nice is that plant life actually helps play a role in hiding and taking out the enemy.

Going further into the MP mode you will find the extremely addictive award system.
It starts you off at Private and gives you a base collection of weapons and "percs" (I'll get to those later)
As you kill people with various headshots, spray/pray, knife, grenade kills you get XP towards higher ranks, weapon upgrades more percs etc.
It's really fucking cool how the game really makes you WANT to use those odd sub machine guns and heavy LMG weapons.
The weapon upgrades are pretty useful and can add alot to aiming and making you more lethal.
Some include handles for stability, laser dot, and other scopes to help long range accuracy.

Then there are the PERCS that I really think is an innovative addition to the FPS online scene.
You get the chance to have 3 percs.
These range from having more grenades, more heath, deeper bullet penitration, UAV cloaking, high cap magazines, all the way to conditioning to hold your breath longer to help you snipe and being able to sprint longer and faster.

Its really fucking cool because you can pretty much build your character with 3 of these percs and it really can help you change the game around and make a more defined soldier.
There's some pretty nasty percs too like LAST STAND or MARTYRISM which I've been wanting in shooters for a LONG TIME.
Last Stand allows you to pull out your pistol at the last remaining breaths you have in your body to try to get revenge on your killer.
You eventually die either if you are shot while on the ground or you just expire after a certain amount of time.  Its really cool and catches people off guard.
MARTYRISM is by far the most cheapest way to die and get revenge.
As you die, you drop a LIVE GRENADE that explodes within 3 seconds.
You have the ability as the killer to throw the thing back, but it's a good 80% of the time that a MARTYR grenade splits your whig.
It's a nice little FUCK YOU to those that catch you slippin.

The game comes PACKED with numerous ways to play the game and modify your MP experience.
There's the traditional team deathmatch and old school based modes.
Then they throw in a pretty nice capture modes like Headquarters and Search and Destroy.  
Plus there's even some variations on the CSS theme with a bomb that needs to be placed at a enemy bomb site.
Tie these all in with the game's ranking system and you have a recipie for lengthing the fun and enjoyment out of trying the various modes of play and learning how to score in multitudes of scenarios.

Then goes combat.  Combat in COD4 is intense.  There's also a rewards system that allows you to call in UAV for 30 seconds to see where the enemy is.
You have also the ability to call in airstrikes, and an atonomous attack chopper that mops the shit out of your enemies.
You can get these helpers if you stay alive and keep killing.

Last but not least is the single player campaign.  All I can say is it's semi-short (depending on the difficulty) but it's a hell of a roller coaster ride through in and through out.
The missions range from sniping, assault runs, escorting, being surrounded, all the way to vehicle based combat.
The story sucks you in pretty well but to be honest you really don't care too  much about the characters because you are always under fire.
There are some hella intense moments in COD4 that I really will never forget.
There are some missions that will literally give you CHILLS while playing.  (you guys that own it know what I'm talking about)

not to bring any halo related issues up but i played cod4 @ my friends house and i still liked halo 3 more its just cod is a war game, they thought hey lets make it modern warfare its still a war game, sure its a good game but it could be better and halo 3 is better, fuck, halo 2 is better.

I played Halo 3.
I tried really hard to get into Halo 3's campaign.
It did not hook me.
I tried to play online...
It had a slight hook, then it just faded away.

I did not like Halo 3.

I sold my copy 2 weeks after owning it. $45 bucks.
Sadly I actually waited in line for 2 hours at the midnight release.

The MP on COD4 honestly controlled and the engine was 10X better.
And the way, what makes Halo 3 not a war game?

its a war game jus tunlike every other one u dont really have an m16 in halo 3 just like in cod4 and evey other game, u have a carbine a plasma greande a spike grenade a plasma cannon a main idea that is unlike no o ther game, i do agree with u though halo 3 campaing is not how good i had hoped it to be, but still i pay more attention to online then campaign and i think halo 3 has the best multiplayer any game could ever have up there with WoW
